Martins Rodrigues, 54 years old, has been a ranger for 9 years in the Maputo Special Reserve, and currently holds the post of head of the Southern Region of the REM.
Martins has been outstanding in ending the smuggling of products from South Africa to Mozambique and vice-versa, as well as in reducing significantly the level of poaching in the southern region of the reserve.
In a fearless and determined manner, Martins has overcome several challenges including death threats from South African poachers and from discontented communities.
Showing the characteristics of a born leader, Martins is an example and an inspiration for all his colleagues.
